Three Fatalities in Minnesota Road Crashes within 24 Hours

Tragedy struck on the roads of Minnesota, as at least three lives were lost in crashes in less than 24 hours. This heartbreaking news comes on the heels of seven fatalities reported in just four days, with three of those lives lost being pedestrians.

The first of the deadly crashes occurred on Interstate 90 in southwestern Minnesota late Friday night. A pickup truck and a semi collided while heading west, resulting in the tragic loss of the pickup driver, a 46-year-old man from West Virginia. The state crash report revealed that he was not wearing a seatbelt. Thankfully, the semi-truck driver, a 30-year-old man from Lake Benton, MN, escaped without injuries.

The second fatality occurred Saturday morning in the Twin Cities, at the intersection of Hwy. 252 and Humboldt Ave. in Brooklyn Center. A car traveling north crashed, resulting in the death of a 36-year-old passenger from Minneapolis, identified as Carlos Chavez Holliday. The driver, 33-year-old Johnny Lee Houston, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Later on Saturday afternoon, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred about five miles east of Hibbing in northern Minnesota. A witness reported seeing a motorcycle fail to navigate a curve on Hwy. 5, resulting in the rider, a 46-year-old man from Chisholm, being ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol were factors in the tragic crash.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in these devastating accidents. Stay safe on the roads, and remember to always prioritize safety and responsible driving.
