Jenna Ortega’s ‘Death Of A Unicorn’ Streaming Release Date
Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd star in the horror comedy “Death of a Unicorn,” which is set to arrive on digital streaming platforms soon.
The movie, rated R, premiered in theaters on March 28, telling the story of a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn on their way to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (played by Richard E. Grant) looks to exploit the creature’s magical healing properties.
Directed by Alex Scharfman, the film also features Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, Jessica Hynes, Kathryn Erbe, and Téa Leoni.
“Death of a Unicorn” is scheduled to be available on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) starting April 29, according to When to Stream. While the release date is subject to change as A24, the studio behind the film, has not officially confirmed it.
When the movie reaches PVOD, audiences can find it on various digital platforms like AppleTV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home. Prime Video is already offering pre-orders for $24.99, which is also the purchase price of the film. Typically, digital rentals are $5 less than the purchase price, so viewers can expect to rent “Death of a Unicorn” for $19.99.
Overall, “Death of a Unicorn” has generated $12 million in North American theaters and over $326,000 internationally, making a total of $12.3 million against its $15 million production budget before advertising costs, as reported by The Numbers.
The film received mixed reviews, earning a 53% “rotten” rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes but scoring a 78% “fresh” rating from audience reviews. Critics praised the chemistry between Ortega and Rudd, describing the film as a satirical creature feature with a good amount of gore and fun elements.
