Ashley Sutton of ‘Yellowjackets’ Shares Favorite Finale Scene and Show’s Future

“Yellowjackets” Season 3 really packed a punch with its shocking ups and downs, murders, and unexpected turns. Recently, we got the chance to chat with Ashley Sutton, who plays the role of Hanna in this season, a frog scientist who ends up a captive of the lost “Yellowjackets” after some unexpected encounters. We delved into the mind-blowing finale and what the future holds for the show.

Hanna’s innocence took a wild turn when she profoundly changed her fate by making a shocking move—plunging a knife into her colleague’s eye (played by Joel McHale) to display unwavering loyalty to the starved soccer team in Episode 9. Spoiler alert: If you haven’t seen the Season 3 finale, tread carefully from here on.

In the finale, the big question of who killed Adult Lottie (played by Simone Kessell) was finally answered, and it was a surprising revelation. As the story unfolds, we see Adult Shauna, portrayed by Melanie Lynskey, returning home to find her family suddenly missing without a trace—not something you hope to find on a regular day. Thinking it might be her twisted fellow “Yellowjacket” survivor adult Misty (played by Christina Ricci), Shauna confronts her and learns the grim truth that turns everything upside down.

Things escalate further when it’s revealed that Callie pushed Lottie down the stairs to her unfortunate death after a chilling revelation from the wilderness guru. Adult Shauna’s character takes a darker turn upon discovering these events, hinting at a new side to her character after such unsettling news. Another intense scene showcases adult Taissa spiraling into darkness, consuming the heart of her slain lover, Van.

Even the teenage versions of the characters weren’t spared from intense drama. They bid farewell to teen Mari in a brutal fashion, further cementing the show’s gripping narrative. Hanna finds herself in a pivotal role in the teens’ plan to potentially secure their journey back home.

In the last moments of the finale, the teenagers work on a plan to trick teen Shauna into allowing them to seek help. This is where the episode aptly titled “Full Circle” wraps up, leaving the audience on the edge.

In a chat with Sutton, she shared her own surprise at the unexpected turn of events in the finale, admitting she thought her character might meet a different fate based on earlier scenes. The storyline keeps viewers guessing right till the end.

“Yellowjackets” Season 3 has definitely kept us hooked with its thrilling twists and engaging storytelling. With such a powerful and jaw-dropping finale, fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for the show’s future.
