20 Games of Clue at Wilson Library: Memories Captured in Photos
Wilson Library is gearing up to celebrate its 20th game of live-action Clue this spring. Back in 2012, the game was created as a fun way to introduce students to this iconic building on Carolina’s campus. Even though Wilson Library is a staple on campus tours, many students didn’t realize all the resources it had to offer.
Nadia Clifton, the current co-chair of the Clue committee and Special Collections Instruction Librarian, noted that some students found Wilson Library intimidating or thought it was only for graduate students. The game was a way to break down those barriers and show students that the library could be a place for fun and exploration.
During the game, Library staff transform into characters like Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard, guiding student teams through the library to uncover clues and learn more about its offerings. The first Clue game at Wilson Library kicked off in 2012, and a new game has been held every semester since, except for breaks due to COVID restrictions. It has become a beloved tradition at the University Libraries, with registration for this year’s game filling up in record time.
Clifton emphasized that all students are welcome at Wilson Library, regardless of their academic status or research projects. Curiosity alone is a fantastic reason to explore the library’s collections, and the staff is always ready to help make that happen.
The essence of the Clue game is captured by photos from over the years, showcasing the fun and creativity that students and staff bring to the event. Players dress up, form unique team names, and fully immerse themselves in the mystery-solving experience. It’s a unique way to engage with the resources of Wilson Library in a lighthearted and interactive manner.
Whether you’re a seasoned Clue veteran or new to the game, these photos offer a glimpse into the excitement and camaraderie that define the beloved tradition of Clue at Wilson Library.
