Moana 2 Premieres on Disney+ with Strong Streaming Ratings
Moana has been a streaming favorite for the past two years based on Nielsen data, but its sequel, Moana 2, is giving it a run for its money this year. The film made its debut on Disney+ on March 12 and quickly rose to the top of the streaming charts for the week of March 10-16. With nearly 2 billion minutes of viewing time, it set a record as the most-watched feature film in a single week on a streaming platform in 2025 so far. (For context, Netflix’s Back in Action held the previous record at 1.54 billion minutes in January.) Moana also bounced back into the rankings after being outside the top 10 for two weeks, with 223 million minutes.
In addition to Moana 2’s success, two other films made it to the overall top 10 for the week. The Electric State, featuring Millie Bobby Brown, garnered 1.18 billion viewing minutes on Netflix, while the Spider-Man adjacent Kraven the Hunter scored 911 million minutes, also on Netflix. They secured the third and eighth spots on the overall charts.
Another notable mention goes to Netflix’s Adolescence, which snagged the ninth spot overall and was the second-highest ranking original series. During its premiere week (which started on March 13), it amassed 907 million minutes of viewing time. Reacher, the top original series from the previous week, maintained its lead, crossing the 1.31 billion-minute mark for the fourth consecutive week. Amazon Prime Video had two more series in the top 10 originals category, with Invincible (587 million minutes) and The Wheel of Time (534 million minutes) joining Reacher.
