Takehiro Hira Joins Karoshi: Shogun Villain Enters New Role

Takehiro Hira, known for his compelling roles in projects like FX’s Shogun, has joined the cast of the upcoming Lionsgate film Karoshi, a unique action thriller that promises to be a standout in the genre. Starring alongside him will be Teo Yoo, Cynthia Erivo, and Isabel May in what is sure to be an exciting lineup.

The movie, written and directed by Takashi Doscher, who previously worked on the post-apocalyptic thriller Only, has an impressive team of producers behind it. Chad Stahelski, best known for his work on the John Wick franchise, along with Alex Young and Jason Spitz of 87Eleven Entertainment, are bringing this project to life with a first-look deal with the studio.

Plot details for Karoshi are tightly under wraps, but we do know it’s a corporate thriller with a samurai twist set in a Japanese-influenced version of New York City. The film is said to include elements of revenge, and the title “karoshi” itself refers to unexplained sudden deaths related to overwork.

Hira will be playing a villain in the film, adding his talent and presence to this exciting project. Production is set to kick off in June, promising a fast-paced and action-packed shoot.

Fans of Hira’s work in Shogun, where he portrayed Japanese warlord Ishido Kazunari, can look forward to seeing him bring that same intensity and skill to his new role in Karoshi. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling new film as production gets underway.
