Apple and Lionel Messi Partner for Free MLS Season Pass Trial
Lionel Messi is treating his fans to an exciting deal. Recently, the Inter Miami superstar posted on his social media about a cool promotion that lets fans snag a one-month free trial of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. This offer is open to new and eligible returning customers anywhere in the world. After the trial period, customers will be billed the usual $14.99 per month (or $12.99 monthly for Apple TV+ subscribers).
Apple and MLS are on a mission to make MLS Season Pass more accessible this season. The league has expanded its reach by partnering with Xfinity and DirecTV cable and satellite systems, teaming up with T-Mobile to provide free Season Pass access, and even introducing a new Sunday Night Soccer package exclusively for Apple TV+ subscribers, apart from Season Pass.
Although these efforts are commendable, some believe the league still has work to do. Limited visibility outside of the Apple TV platform has led one MLS team executive to suggest that the league should consider cutting ties with Apple and focus on securing more mainstream exposure. MLS has recently inked several linear television deals in global markets with hopes of attracting new Season Pass subscribers.
Messi’s free trial offer is poised to give the league a big boost in visibility. With over 500 million social media followers, Messi’s promotion could potentially convert a significant number of fans into Season Pass subscribers, benefiting MLS in the long run.
