Netflix Subscription Prices Increase
Netflix has bumped up its subscription prices in New Zealand, so if you’re a subscriber, you might notice a change in your monthly bill. The basic plan now costs $17.99 a month, up from $14.99, while the standard plan increased to $25.99 from $20.99, and the premium plan now costs $33.99, up from $27.99.
If you’re thinking of adding extra members to your standard or premium plans, that might also cost you a bit more – up to $9.99 per person compared to the previous $7.99.
Existing members started receiving email notifications about these price changes starting April 3. The exact timing of when the change will take effect depends on your billing cycle. According to a Netflix spokesperson, the reason for the increase is to keep investing in new content and enhance the overall Netflix experience for its members.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has increased prices for its users in New Zealand. The last price increase was in February of last year, with another one in September 2021. This recent price hike follows similar increases for Netflix customers in the United States and Canada in January.
It’s not just Netflix that’s making adjustments to its subscription pricing. Disney+ also raised its prices in NZ in February. The standard plan now costs $16.99 per month, up from $14.99, while the premium plan increased from $18.99 to $21.99. If you’re on a yearly subscription, you’ll also see a bump in price – from $149.99 to $169.99 for standard and $189.99 to $219.99 for premium.
So, if you’re a fan of streaming services, be prepared for a slight increase in your monthly bill. It’s all in the name of bringing you more content and a better viewing experience.
