Tom Hardy’s MobLand on Paramount+: Cast, Plot, First Impressions

Tom Hardy stars in Paramount+’s stylish new series, MobLand, which fills the void left by Taylor Sheridan’s recent departure from the network. Created by Ronan Bennett, the show follows Hardy’s character, Harry Da Souza, a fixer for a London crime family led by Conrad Harrigan (played by Pierce Brosnan) and his formidable wife Maeve (portrayed by Helen Mirren).

The series kicks off with Da Souza carrying out hits for the Harrigans, setting the stage for a brewing conflict with the Stevensons. The tension escalates after a clubbing incident involving the Harrigan’s son, Eddie, threatens to ignite a war between the two families. Paddy Considine shines as Kevin Harrigan, who brings Da Souza in to clean up the mess.

While Da Souza excels at his job, his personal life is in turmoil, leading his wife Jan (played by Joanne Froggatt) to urge him to seek counseling. Despite the high stakes, Hardy’s character remains cool and collected throughout, balancing the demands of his work with the challenges in his marriage.

Originally conceived as a Ray Donovan spin-off, MobLand evolved into its own standalone series with Guy Ritchie directing several episodes, including the pilot. Featuring a talented ensemble cast including Janet McTeer and Tommy Flanagan, the show promises a mix of drama and humor, capturing the essence of British crime storytelling.

With a promising start, MobLand is set to captivate audiences on Sunday nights, offering a refreshing take on the crime genre. As Taylor Sheridan moves on to new projects, this series is poised to become Paramount+’s next hit, showcasing Tom Hardy in a captivating and complex role.
