Jason Momoa starring in Hawaiian epic series “Chief of War”
Apple TV+ has shared a first look at “Chief of War,” a new historical drama created by and starring Jason Momoa. This nine-episode series, set to premiere on August 1, takes an Indigenous perspective on the unification and colonization of Hawai’i. The first two episodes will debut together, followed by a new episode every Friday until September 19.
“Chief of War” is set in the late 18th Century and follows Ka’iana, a warrior on a mission to bring together the Hawaiian Islands before Western colonizers arrive. The series boasts a predominantly Polynesian cast, including actors like Cliff Curtis, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Temuera Morrison, and more.
In addition to his role in the series, Jason Momoa directed the season finale and is an executive producer alongside showrunner Doug Jung. Stay tuned for this exciting new show coming to your screens soon!
