As a huge fan of The Last of Us franchise, I recently rewatched the series, gearing up for Season 2. And let me tell you, the emotional rollercoaster hit me harder than before. Reflecting on the first season, one particular death stood out to me more this time around.
In the past, Sam’s death has always stuck with me. It was sudden, sad, and inevitable once you saw his bite. The aftermath, with Henry taking his own life out of guilt, added layers of heartbreak. Revisiting this scene, even after multiple playthroughs of the game and watching the show again, it still tugs at my heartstrings.
However, on this rewatch, another death really got to me – Anna’s. Who is Anna, you ask? Anna is Ellie’s mother. In the game, we don’t see much of her, but in the show, we get a glimpse of her character, portrayed by Ashley Johnson, who also voiced Ellie in the games. Seeing Anna’s sacrifice and the emotional goodbye she shared with Ellie struck a chord with me, knowing what Ellie would go on to experience.
Thinking about Ellie’s journey in the sequel game made Anna’s death hit even harder this time around. Knowing how Ellie’s path unfolds, I can only imagine the impact it will have in Season 2 of the show. The anticipation of what’s to come is both thrilling and nerve-wracking, and I’m preparing myself for an emotional storm when the new season airs.
So, grab your tissues and buckle up for what promises to be an intense ride. Season 2 of The Last of Us is on the horizon, and it’s sure to deliver more gut-wrenching moments and heartbreaking losses. Get ready for the tears to flow as we dive deeper into Ellie’s complex journey.
