The men’s game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET, and the women’s game will follow about 30 minutes after the men’s matchup ends. This event is a fantastic opportunity to see the top 24 men’s and women’s HBCU players in action as they pursue their professional basketball dreams. Each team will be led by a distinguished HBCU coach and named after an HBCU basketball legend, with matchups like Team Al Attles vs. Team Bob Love for the men and Team Yolanda Laney vs. Team Patricia Hoskins for the women.
Exciting players to watch in the men’s game include T.J. Madlock from Alabama State, the SWAC Tournament champion, and Carlos Rogers HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I National Player of the Year. Another standout is Christian Ings from Norfolk State, who led the MEAC Tournament champions. In the women’s game, Taliah Wesley from Allen University, the Jackie Givens HBCU All-Stars Division II Women’s National Player of the Year, is definitely one to keep an eye on.
The Men’s HBCU All-Star Game, now in its fourth year, has acted as a springboard for professional careers for past participants. Players like Javonte Cooke and Asanti Price have gone on to play in the G-League, while Prince Moss currently plays for the Harlem Globetrotters. Over half of former HBCU All-Star participants are even playing professionally overseas.
For those tuning into the broadcast, you can expect a stellar lineup of commentators for both the men’s and women’s games. Brian Custer, a two-time Emmy Award winner, will call the men’s game alongside veteran head coach Cy Alexander, while the women’s game will feature commentary from Nia Symone, Thai Floyd, and Symone Stanley.
