Why You Should Cancel Prime Video and Paramount Plus This Month

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the streaming services you’re subscribed to? It might be time for a little spring cleaning of your streaming bill. With the average American spending around $61 a month on streaming services, it’s worth looking for ways to save some cash. One option is churning, where you cancel and resubscribe to services based on what’s currently available.

For April 2025, I’d suggest canceling Prime Video and Paramount Plus. While Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership, the standalone subscription isn’t cheap. This month, the lineup doesn’t offer much to justify the cost. “Reacher” just wrapped up its season, and “Wheel of Time” season 3 isn’t exactly gripping. With no exciting returns like “The Boys” or “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” it may not be worth it.

On the other hand, Paramount Plus isn’t offering much either. While you can catch the Final Four and championship game of March Madness, you can watch them for free on CBS with a TV antenna. The only standout original this month is the “1923” season 2 finale, which fans may want to see before canceling on April 6.

By canceling both Prime Video and Paramount Plus, you could save up to $28 a month. While it might not seem like a lot, those savings can add up. With the cost of everything on the rise, every dollar counts. Churning services throughout the year could save you a few hundred dollars, giving you more flexibility in your streaming choices. So if you’re looking to trim down your streaming bill, consider giving these platforms a break this month.
