Disney Plus is Developing a “W.I.T.C.H.” Live-Action Adaptation

Disney+ is considering a live-action adaptation of the beloved early 2000s animated series “W.I.T.C.H.” If you remember, the show followed five girls with magical powers – Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin – as they banded together to protect Meridian from the evil sorcerers Phobos and Cedric.

Originally airing in late 2004, this French-made series ran for 52 episodes over two seasons as part of the Disney Jetix programming block. Trey Callaway, a key player in the creation of the first season, recently spilled the beans on some inside info during the Radical Retro Rewind Podcast. He revealed that Disney has been in discussions with the creators of the “W.I.T.C.H.” franchise about potentially bringing a live-action version to Disney+.

But hold onto your magical powers! While this news is exciting, Disney has not officially confirmed anything yet. It’s essential to remember that early talks like these don’t always lead to a finished product on our screens right away – if ever. These kinds of conversations often happen to gauge fan interest and if there’s enough buzz, the project might get the green light eventually.

While the original animated series isn’t on Disney+ just yet, if the live-action adaptation does come to fruition, hopefully, we’ll get to see those original episodes added to the streaming platform. So, crossing our fingers for some magical news in the future!
