Emmy Rossum in Talks to Star in Hulu Series Based on Black Widow Movie

Emmy Rossum might soon be gracing our screens in a new Hulu series inspired by the 1987 movie Black Widow—no, not that superhero one! The show, created by Elizabeth Meriwether of New Girl fame, will center around an FBI agent using a female serial killer’s past to track her down.

In this upcoming series, Rossum is eyeing the role of the FBI agent, with Meriwether onboard as both writer and executive producer. She’s teaming up with Sara Moskowitz to produce under her Composition 8 banner. Ron Bass, the original movie’s screenwriter, will also be an executive producer.

The 1987 film starred Theresa Russell as a woman who targets wealthy men for their fortunes and Debra Winger as the determined DOJ agent hot on her trail.

For Meriwether, this project marks a return to Hulu, following her work on The Dropout, which delves into the rise and fall of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. This new show promises an intriguing blend of crime, drama, and suspense, backed by Meriwether’s creative prowess.

Meanwhile, Rossum has been keeping busy with various projects, such as The Crowded Room, a gripping Apple TV+ series co-starring Tom Holland. She also took part in Angelyne, a Peacock miniseries centered on the ’80s icon known for her eye-catching billboards around Los Angeles.

With such a talented team behind the scenes and Emmy Rossum potentially headlining, this Hulu series is definitely one to watch out for. While the Black Widow name might ring a bell for movie fans, this reimagined series is gearing up to offer a fresh and thrilling take on the story.
