The Last of Us Season 2 Episodes to Feature ASL Versions on Max

Max is making waves in the streaming world by being the first platform to offer American Sign Language (ASL) versions of premiere episodes, like for The Last of Us season two. This Emmy-winning video game adaptation is set to launch its second season with ASL versions available for streaming weekly.

Exciting news also comes from HBO, which is now offering original programming in ASL upon each episode’s release on Max. This includes ASL versions of popular Warner Bros. films like Barbie, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The goal behind this expansion is to enhance accessibility for all viewers on their streaming platform.

When it comes to talent, Daniel Durant, known for his role in the Academy Award-winning film CODA, will be performing in The Last of Us with ASL episodes. Additionally, Leila Hanaumi, who delivered a fantastic performance in Barbie with ASL, will also be part of the project. Hanaumi not only acted in Barbie but also directed the ASL version of the first season of The Last of Us.

According to Naomi Waibel, SVP of Global Product Management at WBD, they are excited about expanding their ASL program and premiering the first HBO original series in ASL with The Last of Us. This move aims to bring the show to life in an authentic and fully accessible way for Deaf audiences, aligning with their goal of offering a more inclusive streaming experience.

Don’t worry if you need to catch up on the first season. Season one of The Last of Us in ASL will be available for streaming starting March 31. For those eager for new episodes, season two is set to premiere on April 13 at 6:00 PM PT. So mark those calendars and get ready for more action-packed ASL content on Max!
