Disney+ and Hasbro Working on New Power Rangers Reboot

on Power Rangers series for the Disney streaming service and 20th Century TV, marking a return of the beloved franchise to Disney.

According to TheWrap, Hasbro is working on a “reinvention” of the Power Rangers, with Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, known for their work on Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, set to write, produce, and showrun the new show. This will be the first new Power Rangers series since the release of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury on Netflix back in 2023.

Hasbro acquired Saban’s Power Rangers and other assets in a $522 million deal in 2018, with the goal of unlocking the full potential of the Power Rangers franchise. The new series was initially announced in 2022, with Jenny Klein set to serve as showrunner for Power Rangers Dino Fury on Netflix. However, plans shifted in 2024, and the series is now set to air on Disney-owned 20th Television.

The Power Rangers franchise, created by Haim Saban in 1993, quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. The show follows a group of ordinary teenagers who transform into superheroes to protect the world from evil. With nearly 1,000 episodes produced to date, Power Rangers is one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history.

Over the years, the Power Rangers franchise has seen various iterations, including the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, and Power Rangers Turbo. After a series of ownership changes, the rights to Power Rangers were re-acquired by Saban in 2010.

The return of Power Rangers to Disney+ is a highly anticipated event for fans of the series, and the collaboration between Hasbro and Disney promises to bring a fresh perspective to this beloved franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on the new Power Rangers series coming soon to Disney+!
