Stock Market Update: Intel, Netflix, Incyte, and Other Top Movers

Midday trading saw some mixed movement in the U.S. stock market today. Despite lingering worries about tariffs, a positive report on retail sales helped balance things out. While the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up, the Nasdaq was down, and the S&P 500 remained relatively stable.

Exciting news for Intel (INTC) investors as reports suggest that the new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is gearing up for a significant shakeup in the company’s production methods and artificial intelligence strategies. This update drove Intel’s stock up.

On another note, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) saw a rise in its shares following an upgrade from JPMorgan. Executives at the cruise company mentioned that they haven’t noticed any decrease in consumer spending on travel, which is always good news for investors.

Netflix (NFLX) also got a boost with an upgrade from MoffettNathanson. Not only did the analysts raise their price target, but they also highlighted Netflix’s ability to improve its profit margin in the competitive streaming industry.

Unfortunately, Incyte (INCY) wasn’t as lucky. The stock took a hit and was the worst performer in the S&P 500 after disappointing results from a Phase 3 trial on a new skin care treatment.

Steel Dynamics (STLD) and Nucor (NUE) saw their shares slip after President Donald Trump announced there would be no exceptions to U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs.

And in the world of finance, Affirm Holdings (AFRM) shares dipped when news broke that Walmart (WMT) had opted for Klarna over Affirm to provide buy now, pay later loans for its customers.

Finally, oil and gold futures were on the rise, while the yield on the 10-year Treasury note dropped. The U.S. dollar also saw a dip against the euro, pound, and yen, and most major cryptocurrencies saw an increase in prices.

Overall, the midday stock market is certainly a mixed bag today, with various industries experiencing both highs and lows. Keep an eye on these developments as the trading day continues.
