Marvel Studios Announces First-Ever Yearly Disney+ Show

Marvel Studios is making history with its first-ever show set to be released annually in the MCU. While Disney+ continues to churn out plenty of material, fans have yet to see a show with two seasons back-to-back in consecutive years. This can be attributed to the vast array of characters Marvel has at its disposal, making it challenging for the studio to maintain this strategy. However, as the franchise returns to a more regular release schedule, fans are left wondering if more shows will start to see annual releases.

Marvel Studios’ head, Brad Winderbaum, recently confirmed in an interview with Collider that the upcoming seasons of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are in the works. Despite some behind-the-scenes issues during the production of Season 2, Winderbaum is optimistic that new episodes will be ready for debut by 2026. He expressed his desire to have a Spider-Man season every year, starting after Season 2. While fans may have to wait a bit longer for Season 2, the goal is to have subsequent seasons follow an annual cadence.

Looking at the MCU’s upcoming slate of Disney+ shows, it seems like the animated series are the most likely candidates for yearly releases. While What If…? may have reached its conclusion for now, Marvel Zombies, the MCU’s first R-rated animated show, could potentially have multiple seasons if it proves successful. Similarly, X-Men ’97 is well into production for its second season, hinting at the possibility of the mutants returning for another round of action within a year of the first season’s release.

Marvel’s future plans seem to include the development of more animated series with quicker release schedules compared to past projects. However, specific details about these upcoming shows and their release timeframes are still awaited. In the meantime, fans can catch Season 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, now streaming on Disney+.
