HBO Announces ‘True Detective’ and ‘Hacks’ Coming to TNT and TBS for New Seasons
HBO shows are usually only available to subscribers of HBO or its streaming service, Max, but there’s good news for regular cable subscribers! According to Variety, two recent HBO hits will soon be airing on cable networks in the upcoming weeks.
First up is True Detective: Night Country, the latest season of the popular crime anthology series. You can catch it on TNT starting on March 28. And if comedy is more your style, Hacks, an award-winning show exclusive to Max, will be airing on TBS beginning April 3. TBS will be showing all three seasons of Hacks leading up to the premiere of the fourth season on Max on April 10.
Just like with other content that airs on these networks, the episodes of True Detective: Night Country and Hacks will be edited to meet broadcast standards. This move marks a shift for HBO, as it’s the first time they’re sharing recent or ongoing shows with cable networks.
Channing Dungey, the CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, hinted that this could be the start of more collaborations to attract new subscribers to HBO and Max. Dungey expressed excitement about using the extensive Warner Bros. library and fresh content from sister companies across their cable networks.
“We are excited to begin experimenting with new ways to utilize our incredible WB library and latest programming from our sister companies across our leading cable networks,” said Dungey. “With Hacks and True Detective: Night Country, we have award-winning, fan favorites to entice our viewers on networks and a compelling reason for HBO/Max viewers to engage with TNT and TBS, all in a virtuous cycle for WBD that elevates all our platforms and amazing shows.”
So mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy these two fantastic shows on cable!
