This past weekend, Brooklyn took on a whole new look as it transformed into Philadelphia for the debut of the Peacock show “Long Bright River.” Starring Amanda Seyfried, the show is based on a best-selling novel by Liz Moore and follows the story of Mickey, a police officer patrolling a neighborhood affected by an opioid crisis.

Last year, filming for the show took place in Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights, capturing some of Brooklyn’s unique neighborhoods on screen. According to NBC, “Long Bright River” is a suspense thriller series that delves into Mickey’s personal history as she uncovers a series of murders in her community.

Amanda Seyfried, known for her roles in “Mama Mia,” “Les Miserables,” and “Mean Girls,” not only stars in the show but also serves as an executive producer. In an interview with USA Today, Seyfried shared that the show’s important theme of addiction struck close to home for her, making her role particularly meaningful.

Scenes for the show were shot all around Southern Brooklyn, including New Utrecht Avenue and a home on Bay Ridge Parkway. Community Board 11 kept residents informed during filming, assuring them that sets would feature homelessness and drug use scenes.
