OTT Review: “Dupahiya” Hindi Web Series on Prime Video – 123telugu
“Prime Video has just released a new village comedy-drama series called ‘Dupahiya’ that is definitely worth checking out. Set in the charming village of Dhadakpur, known as the ‘Belgium of Bihar’ for its peaceful environment, the show follows Roshini Jha, played by Shivani Raghuvanshi, who dreams of leaving the village life behind. When she agrees to marry Kuber, who works in Mumbai and demands a pricey two-wheeler as dowry, the story takes an unexpected turn when the bike is mysteriously stolen.
Right from the start, it’s clear that the creators of ‘Dupahiya’ aim to entertain their audience, and they succeed beautifully. This series offers a refreshing break from the intense and violent content of many recent web shows, making it perfect for family viewing. The comedy is well-crafted, with quirky situations and endearing characters that bring a smile to your face. The show also tackles important social issues, such as discrimination against dark-skinned individuals, through the character played by Komal Kushwaha.
The performances in ‘Dupahiya’ are top-notch, with actors like Sparsh Shrivastava, Gajraj Rao, and Yashpal Sharma delivering standout performances. While the show is enjoyable overall, some viewers may find that the female lead, played by Shivani Raghuvanshi, could have been given more screen time. Additionally, the simple storyline may feel a bit drawn out over the nine episodes, and some social messages could have been conveyed more effectively.
Despite its shortcomings, ‘Dupahiya’ is a delightful village comedy-drama that offers a nice change of pace from the usual web series fare. With well-written comedy and strong performances, it’s definitely worth a watch, even if it doesn’t quite reach the heights of similar shows like ‘Panchayat.’ So, if you’re in the mood for some light-hearted entertainment, give ‘Dupahiya’ a try.”
