AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Directors Address Speculation About Disney+ Character Cameos
The directors of Avengers: Doomsday, Joe and Anthony Russo, recently shared some insights on the rumors surrounding characters like Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, and Kamala Khan potentially appearing in the upcoming movies.
Although specific plot details are still a mystery, leaked concept art has hinted at the possibility of characters from the TV side of the MCU making their way to the big screen. When questioned about these rumors, the Russo brothers remained tight-lipped but hinted that fans might see some familiar faces from Disney+ shows in the films.
Even though only Robert Downey Jr. has been officially confirmed to join the cast as Doctor Doom, there are reports that Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Hemsworth could also be part of the movie, playing alternate versions of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Drawing inspiration from two comic book runs, the Russo brothers revealed that Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars will take cues from the original 1984 Jim Shooter storyline and the 2015 Jonathan Hickman version. Combining elements from both runs, the directors aim to create a unique cinematic adaptation that stays true to the source material.
Recent concept art suggests that Avengers: Secret Wars may draw heavily from Hickman’s run, while Avengers: Doomsday might bring in iconic elements like the Beyonder and Battleworld from the ’80s comic series. With Spider-Man 4 also on the horizon, fans speculate that the film could introduce the black suit and possibly Venom, teasing a possible symbiote storyline.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027. The Russo brothers, known for their work on several MCU films, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, are excited to continue exploring the Marvel Universe and bring fans new and surprising adventures.
