NBCU Introduces New Streaming Ad Innovations for Peacock
NBCUniversal is rolling out some new ad innovations for its Peacock streaming service. One exciting development is the Peacock Frame Ad, which frames a display ad around video content, like a golf event. Speaking at the IAB Newfronts event, Peter Blacker, from NBCUniversal, explained that this ad frame can be dynamic and even geotargeted. For example, viewers in New York might see a Talenti ad while those in Seattle see a Breyer’s Ice cream ad.
But that’s not all – they’re also adding a commerce element. With a QR code on screen, viewers can order products and have them delivered within minutes through a partnership with Gopuff, a commerce delivery platform. This adds a whole new level of interaction to the streaming experience.
Another cool innovation being tested is the Peacock In-Scene Ad, where brands can digitally insert their products or messaging into the video through post-production. This means you might see a brand displayed in the background of a scene from your favorite show, depending on when you watch and your interests. This can be especially handy for unscripted content.
And NBCU didn’t stop there – they recently announced the Peacock Ad Manager, a self-serve programmatic service for performance marketers. This service, set to launch in the second half of the year, will be integrated into the Peacock AX audience management platform. This means more personalized and targeted ads for viewers, making the streaming experience even more engaging. It’s exciting to see how streaming services are constantly evolving to provide a better experience for viewers.
