Musicians: Submit Your Music to Bay Beats Streaming Platform

Calling all musicians! SFPL’s streaming platform, Bay Beats, is inviting you to submit your music for a chance to be featured. The open submissions are happening now through May 31, so don’t miss out! Bay Beats, which launched in late 2023 in partnership with Amoeba Records, aims to showcase the talent of local musicians. Each year, a panel of jurors and library staffers select 100 musicians to be highlighted on the platform, with winners receiving a $250 honorarium for their contribution. All genres are welcome, so whether you’re into jazz, soul, rap, rock, classical, world music, New Age, noise, or anything in between, Bay Beats wants to hear from you.

In its first year, Bay Beats received 600 submissions, and in 2024, that number grew to over 420 submissions. San Francisco is well on its way to having one of the most diverse music collections in the country, with over 300 albums from top-rated solo acts and bands available for streaming, no library card required.

But that’s not all – Bay Beats is also hosting a series of free shows at local libraries, featuring talented performers like jazz vocalist and pianist Rita Lackey, indie-pop and folk-rock band The Corner Laughers, and singer/songwriter Cornelia. Mark your calendars for these upcoming events: Rita Lackey at Ingleside Branch on March 22, The Corner Laughers at Merced on April 19, and Cornelia at West Portal on April 26. Don’t miss your chance to discover new music and support local artists!
