Ben Stiller Reveals Backstory of ‘Severance’ Grand Central Stunt, Makes Jokes About Budget With Apple Boss
Ben Stiller shared some exciting behind-the-scenes details about the Grand Central Station stunt from the TV show Severance during a recent conversation at South by Southwest. The idea was to create a performance art piece by placing a cube in the middle of Grand Central during rush hour and having actors work in cubicles inside. Initially, the plan was for cosplay actors to represent the team, but Adam Scott insisted that the actual actors needed to be in there. Apple TV+ set up a soundproof glass box in the train station with Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, and Zach Cherry working in a replica of the show’s office. Patricia Arquette and Tramell Tillman, who play their supervisors, oversaw the work. The cast spent evenings in character, adding an interactive element to the show’s promotion.
