Jon Favreau Creating Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Hybrid Series for Disney+
Jon Favreau is bringing a classic character back to life with an exciting new project for Disney+. It’s been announced that Favreau will write and produce an animation/live-action hybrid series featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald, created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927, was one of the first animated characters with personality, but he was lost to Universal Pictures in a contract dispute in 1928, leading Disney to create Mickey Mouse. After years with Universal, Disney regained the rights in 2006, and Oswald has since appeared in video games, merchandise, and theme parks.
Jon Favreau is a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, having brought us hits like Iron Man, The Jungle Book, and The Mandalorian. He kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man and continued to make waves with Disney’s live-action adaptations. His work on The Mandalorian revitalized the Star Wars universe on TV and set the stage for more exciting projects to come.
With Favreau at the helm, the new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series is sure to be a blend of nostalgia and cutting-edge storytelling. Fans can look forward to seeing this beloved character come to life in a whole new way on Disney+ soon. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!
