Iron Man Director Working on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Disney+ Series
A new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit TV series is finally in the works after many years, with Jon Favreau, known for directing Iron Man, leading the project as both writer and producer at Walt Disney Studios.
This upcoming TV series will blend animation and live-action, focusing on the mischievous and self-absorbed Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, an iconic character in the history of the Walt Disney Company. Oswald played a significant role in inspiring the creation of Mickey Mouse, who later became Disney’s beloved mascot.
The character of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was originally created by Disney in 1927 and featured in 27 animated shorts until 1928. When Universal gained control of Oswald, Disney decided to design a similar character, leading to the creation of Mickey Mouse.
Disney CEO Bob Iger played a pivotal role in bringing Oswald back to the company by acquiring the character’s trademark in 2006. The Oswald the Lucky Rabbit TV series is set to be written and produced by Favreau for Disney+, adding to his impressive resume that includes projects like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
