MacBook Air receives price drop and performance boost with M4 update
Apple has just announced some exciting updates to their MacBook Air lineup, and we’re here to break it all down for you. The new MacBook Air comes with a lower starting price and a performance boost thanks to the new M4 chip.
According to Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, “MacBook Air is by far the world’s most popular laptop, and today we’re giving everyone even more reasons to love it, including a big boost in performance with the M4 chip, a new Center Stage camera, and a beautiful new sky blue color.”
In addition to the stunning new Sky Blue option, the MacBook Air is also available in Midnight, Starlight, and Silver colors as before. The most significant change is the upgrade to the M4 processor, which replaces the previous M3 chip. The M4 chip comes with a ten-core CPU, four efficiency cores, and an eight or ten-core GPU. It also features higher-bandwidth 120GB/s memory, and storage options ranging from 16GB to a new high of 32GB.
The display remains a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina Display, along with Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity. The new MacBook Air now supports up to two 6K displays in addition to its own display.
Apple has also upgraded the camera on the MacBook Air to a 12MP one that supports Center Stage, a feature that automatically adjusts the subject’s position in the frame during video calls. This feature was previously exclusive to the MacBook Pro.
Prices for the new MacBook Air start at $999 for the 13-inch model and $1,199 for the 15-inch model. Both models are available for pre-order now and will begin shipping on March 12, 2025.
So, if you’re in the market for a new laptop with impressive performance and cutting-edge features, the new MacBook Air might be just what you’re looking for.
