Prime Video Tests AI Dubbing for Movies and TV Shows

Prime Video is trying out AI-assisted dubbing for a few hand-picked movies and TV series, officially announced by the streaming service owned by Amazon. This new experiment will include AI-powered dubbing options in English and Latin American Spanish, with a blend of AI and human localization professionals to ensure top-notch quality control, as per the company’s statement.

Initially, they are focusing on 12 titles that were previously without dubbing support. Some of these titles include the Spanish animated film “El Cid: La Leyenda,” the heartwarming drama “Mi Mamá Lora,” and the independent film “Long Lost.”

AI-based dubbing has become quite popular in the entertainment sphere, as it enables content to reach a wider audience. Many big players in the streaming industry are already utilizing this technology. For example, Deepdub, a company specializing in AI dubbing, has Paramount+ among its clients. YouTube has also made significant investments in this area, recently rolling out an auto-dubbing feature that lets creators translate their videos into multiple languages.

At Prime Video, there are already several AI features designed to enrich the viewing experience, such as “X-Ray Recaps,” which summarize entire seasons and episodes, and “Dialogue Boost,” which enhances audio clarity for any dialogue that might be hard to hear.
