Critics mercilessly criticize Meghan Markle’s Netflix cooking show
Meghan Markle’s new Netflix cooking show “With Love, Meghan” has been met with some less-than-glowing reviews from critics. The eight-episode series, produced by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions, showcases the Duchess of Sussex sharing her cooking and gardening skills at home in Montecito, California, with appearances by celebrity friends like Mindy Kaling.
Critics have not held back their thoughts on the show. The Guardian’s TV writer Stuart Heritage called it “pointless” and suggested it should be the couple’s “last TV show.” Heritage described the show as a “long-form television program about a woman filling children’s party bags with seeds and manuka honey,” adding that it felt “joyless” and “thirsty.”
Similarly, Radio Times columnist Caroline Frost criticized Markle for failing to bring anything new to the genre of lifestyle programming, while Telegraph editor Anita Singh labeled the show as “an exercise in narcissism” filled with “extravagant brunches, celebrity pals, and business plugs.” Independent writer Katie Rosseinsky gave the show a one-star review, deeming it “queasy and exhausting.”
Even on social media, the show’s reception hasn’t been much better. Viewers have criticized the show for being “empty,” “fake,” and “boring,” with some calling it a “masterclass in how to waste Netflix money.” One viewer commented that the show felt like a 40-minute infomercial for Markle’s ego.
Despite the mixed reviews, “With Love, Meghan” remains available for streaming on Netflix. Whether it’s worth a watch or not, the show has definitely sparked some strong opinions among viewers and critics alike.
