Comcast CEO Announces Peacock to Live-Stream NBA Games

NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service has some exciting news for basketball fans! Starting in the 2025-26 season, Peacock will be live-streaming a whopping 100 NBA games and 50 WNBA games. This is all part of a massive media rights agreement worth $76 billion, shared between Peacock, NBC Sports, Prime Video, ESPN, and ABC.

With 36 million paid subscribers by the end of 2024, Peacock is gearing up to offer NBA and WNBA games through the spring season up until 2036. Comcast chairman/CEO Brian Roberts shared this news on March 4 during the Morgan Stanley 2025 Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in San Francisco.

Robert also highlighted Peacock’s plan to bring Multiview, a technology that debuted during the Paris Olympics, to additional sports. This feature allows viewers to enjoy added viewing options on a single screen and gives advertisers extra data points.

Roberts emphasized the significance of the NBA games for Peacock, stating that the games will play a crucial role in the streaming service’s lineup for the first and second quarters of each year. Fans can look forward to catching 100 NBA games and 50 WNBA matchups, all of which will also be broadcast on NBC Sports.

While Roberts did not address the slight dip in Peacock’s subscriber count in the most recent fiscal quarter, he did underscore the importance of reliable internet connections for consumers to access Peacock and other streaming services. With about 32 million broadband subscribers recorded by the end of 2024, Comcast is focused on making sure viewers can enjoy a seamless streaming experience with their favorite sports content, including regional sports in stunning 8K resolution. It’s all about bandwidth, bandwidth, bandwidth!

In the next five years, Roberts predicts that regional sports streaming will be the new normal, delivered through streaming channels with crystal-clear picture quality. The future of sports streaming sure looks exciting, and Peacock is leading the charge!
