Princess and Frog TV Show Canceled by Disney+: What This Means for Fans
Walt Disney Animation Studios has decided to not move forward with The Princess and the Frog Disney+ series focusing on the character Tiana.
Back in December 2020, there was an announcement that Disney was working on a long-form TV series based on the 2009 animated movie The Princess and the Frog. Anika Noni Rose was all set to reprise her vocal role in the show, which was going to delve into Tiana’s adventures in New Orleans.
Unfortunately, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has now canceled the series.
As for the reasons behind this decision, they’re not crystal clear at the moment. The Hollywood Reporter’s article mentions that the studio is stepping back from “making original long-form content for streaming.” Sources close to the series shared that despite numerous efforts, including changes to the creative team, Tiana couldn’t reach the necessary level due to production costs.
