Moana 2 streaming on Disney+: Release Date on Disney’s Streaming Service

When “Moana 2” hit theaters in November 2024, fans were eager to know when they could stream the movie on Disney+. Well, the wait is almost over! While the sequel is currently available for purchase on platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Fandango at Home for $19.99, it will be coming to Disney+ on Wednesday, March 12. Originally planned as a Disney+ television series, the decision to release it as a movie paid off, as it raked in over $1 billion at the box office, exceeding the success of the original film.

The familiar voices of Auliʻi Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Nicole Scherzinger, Temuera Morrison, and Rachel House will be back for “Moana 2,” alongside new characters like Moana’s little sister, Simea. During a November 2024 interview with USA Today, Cravalho shared her excitement about the sequel, stating, “If our first film was about connecting with the past, this is about connecting with the future. So, I loved seeing Simea. Every time she’s onscreen, I cried, and it just pulled at my heart.”

In this installment, Moana sets out on an adventure through treacherous waters to find the lost island of Motufetu after being beckoned by her ancestors. The growth theme in the sequel resonated with Cravalho, as she explained to USA Today, “I really like this theme of growth that when Moana thinks that she’s on the right path, she says, ‘OK, this is going to be easy, right?’ Wrong. As much as [she] would like to control her path and her future ahead of her, it’s something that’s out of her hands.”

While you wait for “Moana 2” to hit Disney+, you can catch up on the original film, which is already available for streaming on the platform. So mark your calendars for March 12 and get ready to dive back into the enchanting world of Moana and her adventures.
