Fox anticipates high subscriber numbers for new streaming service
Fox Corp is gearing up to launch a brand-new streaming service with high hopes of attracting millions of subscribers. CEO Lachlan Murdoch revealed at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference that they are aiming for a subscriber base in the “mid-single digit millions” for this new platform.
The service, set to debut around the NFL season kickoff later this year, will be helmed by industry veteran Pete Distad, a former executive at Apple TV+. This venture will be an addition to Fox Corp’s existing portfolio, which includes popular networks like Fox News and Fox Sports, as well as other streaming platforms like Fox Nation and Tubi.
“We think the traditional cable bundle has been the lifeline for consumers and remains crucial,” Murdoch emphasized when discussing the evolving media landscape.
Fox Nation, the current on-demand video subscription service with hit series like “Yellowstone to Yosemite” and content by Martin Scorsese, boasts between 2 million and 2.5 million subscribers. This success is a testament to their ability to cater to a diverse audience while maintaining quality.
In addition to their streaming efforts, Murdoch highlighted the recent growth at Fox News Channel. He mentioned that the network has seen a notable increase in advertising clients following President Trump’s election victory, with a commendable rise in ratings and business interest.
This next chapter in Fox Corp’s streaming strategy shows their commitment to embracing the digital age while staying true to what has made them successful. With a mix of engaging content and strategic leadership, the future looks bright for this media giant.
