Pete Distad to Lead Fox’s Over-the-Top Streaming Service as CEO

Pete Distad, the former CEO of Venu Sports, has taken on a new role at Fox. After leading Venu, a streaming service that covered content from ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery, Distad is now set to head Fox’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming platform. This new service is anticipated to include news, sports, entertainment, and more.

Although Venu Sports no longer exists, the employees it attracted primarily came from Fox. With Fox lacking its own over-the-top option, it was a strategic move for them to bring Distad on board for their latest streaming project. Distad’s impressive background includes significant experience at both Hulu and Apple. At Hulu, he played a key role in launching the subscription video service, while at Apple, he led their video, sports, and TV+ business units.

With his proven track record in launching successful subscription video services, Distad is well-equipped to take on this new venture at Fox. It will be interesting to see how his expertise will contribute to the success of Fox’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform.
