Sarah Shahi from “Paradise” Reveals the Hulu Thriller is Anything But Serene

What does the term “Paradise” mean to the characters in Hulu’s thrilling new show? Well, it seems to vary for each of them.

Lead actor Sterling K. Brown’s character, Special Agent Xavier Collins, may be driven by his family, while James Marsden’s character, President Cal Bradford, seems to be after the luxury that comes with stepping away from his leadership role. It’s a mystery thriller, as described by actor Sarah Shahi, who plays the therapist on the show. She points out that despite the tranquil setting, nothing in Paradise is serene.

For Julianne Nicholson’s character, Samantha (also known as “Sinatra” on the show), the sense of safety and control in their world is what she loves. But as the show progresses, everything is turned upside down, and nothing is what it seems.

As for Gabriela, Shahi’s character, she’s portrayed as an optimist who sees the good in everyone. Her focus on others, often neglecting her own needs, shapes her fate by the end of the season.

In contrast, Sinatra’s motivation stems from the grief of losing her son. This loss alters her deeply, driving her to make decisions aimed at protecting her loved ones at any cost.

The Season 1 finale of Paradise is set to air on March 4th on Hulu. It’s a show filled with twists and turns, where nothing is quite as it appears.
