Unrated Doomsday Comedy On Hulu – The Worst Underdog Story

Survivor is a novel that would make a great movie, so it was exciting to find a similar story in 2024’s Let’s Start a Cult. Both stories revolve around a lone survivor of a cult suicide, facing darkly humorous consequences. The film introduces Chip Harper, the stoned slacker member of a death cult about to embark on their transcendence ceremony. When Chip fails to mail a video tape of the events to the press as instructed, he becomes the sole survivor and returns home to live with his parents.

Realizing his regular life is unsatisfying, Chip reconnects with cult leader William, now a clown in hiding, and decides to start a new cult. However, their conflicting personalities lead to chaos as they clash over recruitment and transcendence methods. The film offers raunchy humor and gullible moments from Chip, but is sometimes overshadowed by excessive toilet humor.
