TV Ratings: ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Premiere Breaks Streaming Records

Yellowjackets Season 3 is off to a great start, with the premiere drawing in about 2 million viewers over its opening weekend, most of whom tuned in via streaming services.

The episode, which aired on Paramount+ with Showtime on Feb. 14, brought in a total of 2.03 million viewers globally in the three days following its release. This marks a small uptick from the season two premiere, which saw just under 2 million viewers. Interestingly, only 92,000 viewers caught the on-air premiere on Feb. 16, according to Nielsen data.

The streaming audience for the season three premiere hit a record high for Yellowjackets, with approximately 1.94 million viewers tuning in online. This represents a 58% increase compared to the season two premiere in March 2023, before Showtime’s direct-to-consumer streaming service became fully integrated into Paramount+.

Additionally, Showtime revealed that the season three premiere generated the most social media interactions of any episode in the show’s history, with engagement increasing more than tenfold compared to the season two debut.

Despite its mysterious 1996 timeline, where a high school girls soccer team is stranded in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, Yellowjackets continues to captivate audiences. Co-creator Ashley Lyle has promised that the rest of the season will shed light on what the characters experienced during their time in the wilderness. With Lyle, co-creator Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco at the helm, fans can expect more thrilling and intriguing twists as the season unfolds.
