Murderbot Reveals Apple TV+ Release Date & First Look at Alexander Skarsgård as Robot

Alexander Skarsgård, known for his diverse roles, is set to take on a new challenge as Murderbot in the upcoming series on Apple TV+. Based on The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, the show is set to premiere on May 16th, 2025. Fans got a sneak peek of Skarsgård in character, sporting a futuristic look in a worn-down suit of armor, teasing the adaptation of the beloved books.

The synopsis for Murderbot reads: “Murderbot is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is repelled by human emotions but drawn to its vulnerable clients. Despite wanting to be left alone to indulge in futuristic soap operas, Murderbot must suppress its free will to tackle a perilous mission and discover its place in the universe.”

Joining Skarsgård in the series are Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Tattiawna Jones, Akshay Khanna, and Tamara Podemski. The show is helmed by Chris and Paul Weitz, whose combined credits include popular titles like The Golden Compass, Twilight: New Moon, and Rogue One. With 10 episodes in the pipeline, Murderbot promises to be an exciting addition to the Apple TV+ lineup.
