Director Jac Schaeffer to helm ‘Holes’ TV Series

Exciting news for fans of Louis Sachar’s classic novel “Holes”! Disney+ is moving forward with a television series adaptation, with Jac Schaeffer directing the pilot episode. You might recognize Schaeffer from her work on Marvel Studios’ hits like WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

The pilot was given the green light in January, as reported by Variety. Alina Mankin will be both the writer and executive producer, while Liz Phang is on board as the showrunner and executive producer. This new adaptation will shift the story’s focus to a teenage girl at a detention camp where they are forced to dig holes by the strict Warden for a mysterious reason. It’s a fresh take on the tale that originally centered around a boy named Stanley Yelnats in the 2003 movie starring Shia LaBeouf.

Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg, and Andrea Massaro are also on board as executive producers for the pilot under Goddard Textiles. Additionally, Walden Media, Shamrock, and Mike Medavoy are among the project’s executive producers. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new series coming to Disney+ soon!
