Agatha All Along Director Jac Schaeffer to Helm Disney+ Series Pilot

Jac Schaeffer, the mastermind behind “Agatha All Along” and “WandaVision,” is stepping into a new project. She’s set to direct the pilot episode of a gender-swapped adaptation of Louis Sachar’s 1998 novel, “Holes,” for Disney+. This series will feature a female lead, giving a fresh spin to the original story.

For those unfamiliar with the novel, “Holes” follows Stanley Yelnats, who finds himself under a family curse that dates back generations. Sent to a boys’ detention center called Camp Green Lake, Stanley and his fellow inmates are forced to dig five-foot-wide and five-foot-deep holes all day long. But why? Well, the ruthless Warden seems to be hiding something under the dry lake bed.

This new TV series, penned by Alina Mankin with Liz Phang as showrunner, will focus on a teenage girl at a detention camp run by the oppressive Warden. Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg are at the helm as executive producers, alongside Andrea Massaro, Walden Media, Shamrock, and Mike Medavoy.

Fans of Jac Schaeffer’s work won’t want to miss this exciting new project coming soon to Disney+. Stay tuned for more updates on this reimagined tale of crime, punishment, and ultimately, redemption.
