The Last of Us Season 2 Start Date Revealed
After waiting eagerly for almost two years, fans of HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation can mark their calendars because Season 2 is finally here! Episode one is set to air on Sunday, April 13th in the US. The new season picks up five years after the events of the first season and will cover some of the story from Naughty Dog’s second game.
According to showrunner Craig Mazin, the team needed more than one season to cover The Last of Us Part 2’s narrative because the story is so big. Mazin mentioned that they wanted each episode to feel like its own blockbuster, which is really exciting to hear.
Season 2 will consist of seven episodes, including one that’s going to be “quite big.” Viewers can expect to see some familiar faces like Joel and Ellie, played once more by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. Additionally, new characters like Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Catherine O’Hara in a mystery guest role will join the cast.
Fans outside of the US will have to wait a bit longer for international air dates, but based on the ongoing partnership between HBO and Sky Atlantic in the UK, it’s likely that The Last of Us will continue to air there. Season 1 was a major success for HBO, with over 32 million viewers per episode in the US and eight Emmy nominations. It’s safe to say expectations are high for Season 2!
