Looking for ‘Moana 2’ on Disney+? Find out where to watch it
“Moana 2” has finally made its big screen debut in theaters, but fans are eagerly awaiting its release on Disney+. In the meantime, you can catch the sequel by renting or buying it on Apple TV+, Prime Video, or YouTube—though it’s not yet available on Disney+.
The movie follows Moana and the demigod Maui on a new oceanic adventure with some unexpected seafaring companions. While the initial release was in November, there’s no set date for when it will hit Disney+ just yet.
Based on Disney’s typical timeline for streaming new releases, we were expecting “Moana 2” to arrive on Disney+ about three months after its theatrical debut, possibly in February. However, the latest lineup for March 2025 doesn’t include the sequel, so it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer—likely until later this spring or summer.
Once “Moana 2” does become available on Disney+, you’ll need a subscription to access it. Plans start at $7.99 per month for the basic, ad-supported option, but there are also bundle options available that include ESPN+ or Hulu.
If you’re itching to watch “Moana 2” right now, you can check it out on Prime Video for $22.99 to rent or $27.99 to purchase. The platform offers a free trial and a student discount, so it’s worth looking into if you’re a Prime Video user.
Similarly, Apple TV+ has “Moana 2” available for rent or purchase with a subscription. You can get started with a 7-day free trial and then pay $9.99 per month. Simply sign up on their website to start streaming.
For those who prefer YouTube, “Moana 2” is also up for purchase at $29.99. You’ll need a YouTube account to access it.
The original “Moana” movie was released back in November 2016, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. It’s currently available for streaming with a Disney+ subscription.
“Moana 2” has already seen huge success in theaters, raking in a worldwide box office total of around $1.04 billion. The excitement for the sequel was evident from the start, as it set a record for the biggest animated trailer launch in Disney history, clocking in 178 million views in just 24 hours.
