Prime Video Removals Cause Outrage in India
Amazon Prime Video has stirred up some controversy in India due to recent changes in its plan specifications, particularly regarding device limits that went into effect on January 20th, 2025. The previous plans allowed for up to 10 devices, but the new plans cut that number in half, limiting simultaneous sign-ins to just 5 devices.
In addition to this reduction, the new plans also introduce a new restriction. Users are now allowed to remove or replace up to 2 devices only once in a 30-day period, which has added to the public’s frustration.
Many social media users have taken to their platforms to express their discontent with these new limitations, sharing their opinions and concerns. One user expressed, “Dear Prime Video – When was the reduction in device registration introduced? I don’t remember receiving any communication about this! Why should we have to wait a whole month to remove unwanted devices? Shouldn’t the customer have the right to manage their own account?”
It’s understandable that users are feeling frustrated by these changes. Streaming platforms are increasingly imposing new restrictions on what users can do with the subscriptions they pay for, prompting calls for more consumer rights in this digital landscape.
It’s important for the public to have a say in how they access and enjoy the content they pay for, rather than having these decisions dictated by large corporations. Let’s hope for a future where users’ voices are heard and their concerns are taken into consideration.
