Lottie Transfers Power to Natalie as Courtney Eaton Jokingly Calls Her the ‘Pope’

Yellowjackets fans, get excited because Season 3 is here on Paramount+ with Showtime, ready to dive into the aftermath of Season 2’s finale.

In the previous season, we saw Lottie (Courtney Eaton) stepping back from her leadership role within the group, acknowledging that the wilderness no longer speaks to her and passing the torch to Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) as the new leader.

In a recent interview with the cast on Blavity/Shadow and Act, Eaton and Kevin Alves, who portrays Travis, discussed Lottie’s struggle with relinquishing her leadership position while still holding significance within the group. Throughout the first two episodes, we witness her building a stronger connection with Travis, attempting to guide him in communicating with the wilderness.

Eaton shared, “I think leaving Season 2, we see her kind of palm off the responsibility to Nat, and I think she’s seen the damage that she has done. And so going into Season 3, she’s more of a wallflower and trying to blend in, but she’s kind of still the pope almost… [it’s] that everyone turns to whether she likes it or not. I think she is just trying to come to terms with who she actually is. Does she need the wilderness? And then, the spiral of what happens within that question.”

She further expressed, “She definitely feels that [pressure], especially in episode four. I think when a decision slightly lands on her, she can feel the weight that she has in swinging.”

Alves added, “[It’s] that reluctant power she has.”
