Hulu Cancels TV Adaptation of A Court of Thorns and Roses

The TV adaptation of Sarah J. Maas’ “A Court of Thorns and Roses” won’t be coming to Hulu after all. Even though it was in development since 2021 and set to be produced by 20th Television, the project has been scrapped. This decision comes after reports from outlets like TVLine hinted at a less-than-rosy future for the series.

Originally, Maas and Ronald D. Moore were on board to co-write the pilot episode. While it’s unfortunate that the show won’t be moving forward on Hulu, there’s still hope on the horizon. According to Variety, Maas plans to explore other options for the series once the rights to the books become available later this year.

The first book in the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series debuted back in May 2015. It follows the story of Feyre Archeron, a mortal who finds herself embroiled in the faerie lands of Prythian after a fateful encounter with a faerie. Overall, the series spans five books, with titles that include “A Court of Mist and Fury,” “A Court of Wings and Ruin,” “A Court of Frost and Starlight,” and “A Court of Silver Flames.”

While fans eagerly await news of a potential sixth installment, there is no confirmed release date yet. It’s certainly disappointing that the TV adaptation won’t be coming to fruition as planned, but for fans of the series, there may still be light at the end of the tunnel.
