Cape Fear: Apple TV+ Series Guide
Fans of the author John D. MacDonald have something to look forward to with the upcoming TV series, Cape Fear, based on his 1957 novel The Executioners. This novel has inspired multiple adaptations, including the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and the 1991 remake with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte. Now, the story is coming to the small screen.
Cape Fear is currently in production and is scheduled to be released in 2026 with a total of ten episodes. The show will be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
The cast of Cape Fear includes Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, who will also serve as an executive producer. Adams will play the role of Amanda, an attorney, while Javier Bardem will join her as a serial killer named Max Cady. Another actor, yet to be announced, will play Amanda’s attorney husband, Steve Bowden.
The series is described as a Hitchcockian thriller that explores America’s fascination with true crime in the 21st century. The plot follows the story of happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden as their lives are disrupted by the release of Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past.
While a trailer for Cape Fear has not been released yet, fans can expect the series to be led by a team of experienced producers, including Steven Spielberg. Nick Antosca will serve as the writer and showrunner, with support from other executive producers such as Martin Scorsese.
