Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz’s Spy Movie “Back In Action” Dominates Streaming Ratings
This week, Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz’s action-packed comedy “Back In Action” took the lead in overall streaming viewership, knocking Netflix’s hit show Squid Game down to the fourth spot. “Back In Action” raked in a whopping 1.5 billion minutes viewed, according to Nielsen’s latest report from Jan. 13 to Jan. 19. Squid Game, which held the top spot for three weeks, came in at 1.25 billion minutes viewed during the same period.
Another standout performer was Billy Bob Thornton’s Landman, which captured 1.05 billion minutes of viewing time. It’s also worth noting that Landman is the only Paramount+ show, aside from Dexter, to make it into the top 5 on either the TV or movies charts this week.
In other news, the Western-inspired show “American Primeval,” helmed by Peter Berg, soared to the second spot on the overall chart with 1.41 billion minutes viewed. As for original series, Apple TV+’s “Severance” premiered its second season on Jan. 17 and secured the fourth spot on the charts with 589 million minutes viewed.
When it comes to movies, Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1,” which previously snagged the top position, slipped to eighth place with 167 million minutes viewed. Following closely behind “Back In Action” on the movies chart was Netflix’s French-language film “Ad Vitam” at the second spot with 379 million minutes viewed.
