HBO Executive Shares Number of Seasons Planned for ‘The Last of Us’ TV Series

HBO Max is gearing up for what could be the final stretch of The Last of Us. Season two of the popular video game adaptation is set to debut in April, and it seems like the show will span a total of four seasons according to HBO executive vice president Francesca Orsi.

While nothing is set in stone just yet, Orsi mentioned in an interview with Deadline that “it’s looking like four seasons.” This means that the first season covered the entirety of the first video game, with season two taking on the first half of The Last of Us Part II game, leading to the conclusion of the story in the third season.

Orsi also gave fans a little taste of what to expect in the upcoming second season. She hinted at the challenges Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) will face, including dealing with new survivor factions. These factions bring a unique and intriguing dynamic to the table, making the upcoming season even more exciting.

The second season will consist of seven episodes and will introduce Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a revenge-seeking soldier who serves as the show’s new antagonist. If you haven’t caught up on the first season yet, you can stream it now on Max before season two premieres in April.

So get ready for more action, drama, and thrilling storytelling as The Last of Us continues to captivate audiences on HBO Max.
